It has been a while since the iPod shuffle has seen an update with all the attention focussing on the new iPod nano and revised 5th generation iPod. Sales of the iPod shuffle have reportedly slowed, prompting Apple’s iPod division to ready a new version of the bargain iPod.

LoopRumors.com reports that while the new iPod shuffle will be slightly smaller it will also come in both white and black to match the iPod nano and iPod. Their sources are reporting availability “as early as January”.
