Hit Shows From NBC Universal Now On iTunes
NBC Universal and Apple today announced a new lineup of primetime, late-night and classic TV shows. Popular hit shows from NBC Universal include:
- Law & Order
- The Tonight Show with Jay Leno
- Late Night with Conan O’Brien
- The Office
- Surface
Also available is a selection of primetime shows from the Sci-Fi Channel, including:
- Battlestar Galactica
- Alfred Hitchcock Presents
- Dragnet
- Adam-12
- Knight Rider
The USA Network’s “Monk” is also available to download. All 300 episodes of the 16 shows currently available on iTunes are priced at $1.99 each. You can download the latest episode through iTunes the day after it’s first screening and then watch them on an iPod or computer. The new shows from NBC Universal will be included in a new branded area of the iTunes Music Store.
“We’re thrilled to expand the iTunes video catalog with 11 popular TV shows from NBC, USA Network and the Sci-Fi Channel,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “In our first two months we’ve sold more than three million videos, and have expanded our TV catalog from five shows to 16 shows.”
This news come just days after rumours emerged about a new content distribution service, powered by a new Intel-powered Mac mini. Traditionally Apple tends to make large announcements at MacWorld San Francisco and it’s other trade shows. With the deal with NBC Universal, Mac users will now be eagerly awaiting the keynote speach where Apple will undoubtedly release new products.
