Griffin AirClick iPod Remote Control Review

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

Griffin, makers of the popular iTrip and iTalk accessories for iPod, have announced the release of an updated version of their AirClick iPod remote control. Griffin’s AirClick is a remote control for 4th and 5th Gen iPods and the now discontinued iPod mini. At this time it appears that the AirClick is not compatible with iPod nano or the shuffle.

The Griffin AirClick connects your iPod to your system using a USB port, which lets you control what is playing from anywhere in your home using RF signals. As long as you stay within a 60ft radius, you are able to control what plays and how loud it is. The handy remote gives you control over applications like iTunes and Quicktime, allowing you to play / pause / fast forward / rewind / stop a track. The AirClick also has a handy hold switch to avoid you changing the song or volume level unknowingly.

The AirClick is priced at $39.99 and is available at the usual stores. In the box you’ll find a handy holder and clip to make carrying easier as well as a remote control and receiver. This is a convenient accessory for your iPod that will allow you to play your music through your system and control it with ease.

Just one further note, the iPod doesn’t come with the jukebox. ;)

Brighton Net Company iPod Speaker Chair Review

Friday, December 16th, 2005

The iPod Speaker Chair is a piece of molded PVC that looks like a chair with arms and legs that can bend to hold the iPod in place. But this chair holds a secret, tightly integrated in the legs are the 4 Wat speakers.

Sound quality from the speakers does not live up to much because of their lack of power. But this is a novelty gift that will surely delight a kid. The iPod Speaker Chair is available in white, pink and black. You’ll find it difficult to source though, we found none available at any of the usual sources.

Speck Introduces FunSkin Cloud & FunSkin Grass iPod Cases

Thursday, December 15th, 2005

Speck Products today announced the availability of the FunSkin Cloud and FunSkin Grass cases for the 5th generation iPod and iPod nano.

The FunSkin Cloud ($34.95) is intended to be a fun way to protect your iPod, featuring a built-in clear screen protector so you can easily control your iPod and view any photos, videos and album art. The case features a quirky ribbed design with an opening for controlling the click-wheel.

The FunSkin Grass ($34.95) is another quirky design, available in different colours. It is covered in a plastic “grass” that is soft to the touch, but also provides excellent grip and protection for your iPod. The FunSkin Grass is also available in black and green and fits both 5th generation iPods and 4Gb iPod nanos. it also comes with a removable belt clip, ideal for exercise.

Both cases are certainly practical and perfectly able to protect from scratches and dents. However, they are a little “childish” in appearance and may only appeal to younger iPoddders. If you’re looking for something a bit more sleek to match your iPod, then tray something like the Switcheasy Capsule.
