iPod: What’s It Called?

Monday, January 10th, 2005

Every rumour site, iPod fan and analyst alike is expecting a new iPod tomorrow … but what will the new gadget be called. Thanks to Think Secret, Apple’s new creation will be called iPod shuffle. New Flash iPod Tomorrow

Monday, January 10th, 2005

It’s as good as confirmed, Apple will launch a new iPod tomorrow at MacWorld: San Francisco. Representatives from MacCityNet, a new Italian Mac rumour site, were camped out in front of the Moscone Centre over the weekend.

During their time there, they witnessed expo workmen hoisting the usual oversized posters. It was on these posters that they witnessed the new iPod and the accompanying slogan: “Life is random!” They also say that the number 240 appears on the posters, apparently a reference to the number of tracks the new iPod can hold.

Anticipated features of the new iPod include:

  • A narrower form factor.
  • “Probably without a large display.”
  • 1GB flash memory.
  • Apple Insider believes it will cost between $129 and $149.
